Animal Abuse and Arson Charges After Fire in Jamaica, Queens
A man wanted in a horrific case of animal abuse that saw a relative's service dog dragged down a Queens street and set on fire this past July has been indicted on a series of criminal charges, prosecutors said Tuesday.
Isaiah Gurley, 29, was arrested several days after authorities alleged he killed a pit bull and burned the body on a public street on South Ozone Park. The dog, Square K, was a family member's service dog left in his care, prosecutors say.
Judge finds Trump administration unconstitutionally targeted pro-Palestinian students in searing rebuke
A federal judge in Massachusetts ruled Tuesday that Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Secretary of State Marco Rubio violated the First Amendment by targeting pro-Palestinian students for deportation in order to strike fear into international students and curb lawful speech.
In a 161-page decision, U.S. District Judge William Young delivered a blistering assessment of the Trump administration's efforts to pursue international students who expressed pro-Palestinian views on college campuses, which he said was constitutionally protected speech.
